Guide and Best Practices

The Lean Coffee framework is a way to conduct meetings to ensure the best use of the teams skills, resources and time. It provides an open floor to team members where they are encouraged to share different perspectives and opinions. It provides a way for the team to come to a consensus about what needs to be discussed and the actions they will take moving forward.

How the Lean Coffee framework works?

  • Share the Creately Lean Coffee template with the group of participants to collaborate on it in real-time. Simply share a document edit link or add your peers as collaborators so they can add their inputs on the same canvas.
  • Collect discussion topics by asking everyone to add a note with their preferred topics.
  • The team votes on the topics they want to discuss, they can do this by adding a dot to the note they want. Topics with the most votes are discussed first.
  • The group can start discussing the topics using the in-built video conferencing feature. The person who suggested the topic can discuss it in-depth.
  • After a specified period of time the team can vote to continue to discuss this topic, or move on to another one.
  • Move the notes to the different columns as the discussion carries on. It helps to assign a facilitator that will move topics from the ‘being discussed’ to the ‘discussed’ column and so on.
  • Wrap up by getting everyone to share their insights and have a discussion on what the action items should be.
