What is a Stakeholder Engagement Plan?

A stakeholder engagement plan - also known as a stakeholder management plan - is a document that identifies a project’s key stakeholders and outlines a plan as to how the project team should interact and communicate with them along with the communication mediums, tools and technology that will be used.

How To Create a Stakeholder Engagement Plan?

    • Open a Creately stakeholder engagement plan template. Invite your team as collaborators to work together on completing it.
    • First, identify all the key stakeholders by name and their roles and responsibilities. A mind map can be utilized here to streamline the brainstorming process.
    • Identify the level of interest and power your stakeholders have in your project. Use a stakeholder grid or number their interest on a scale of 1-10.
    • Next define how the project team will interact and engage with the stakeholders identified. This step consists of further assessment of each stakeholder, which will be used to inform the rest of the plan. Use a stakeholder engagement matrix to determine whether they are aware, resistant, neutral, supportive, or leading the project.
    • Outline the various activities the project team will follow to communicate and interact with stakeholders, manage their expectations, and keep them engaged with the project.
