Although an old post, this is still very true,
If you was to redo this list I would add a hybrid device such as the surface pro’s in there. For me
they are Very productive and versatile. Can’t be without it now. Oh and a good quality printer helps too.

I think one of the most important skills it takes to be a professional designer is having the ability to listen. Your client(s) usually have an idea in their head prior to hunting for a designer. Listen to their ideas, ask questions, talk about color, fonts, whatever… The more you listen the better the end result.
