With a range of features and functions, collaboration is easy on Creately. You can invite an unlimited (Paid Plans only) number of people to work with you on your Creately project.
Click the Share button on the Right of the Creately application to reveal the Share Panel.
Note - With Creately Desktop, this Share panel will be disabled if you're not connected to the web. So to enable sync, make sure you've interent connection and activated the 'Diagrams Anywhere' feature from the Preferences window.
All the Editors of the project will be listed here.
The first on the list is always the Owner (dark green user icon) of the diagram, followed by all the Editors (light green user icon) who have the permission to view and/or edit the diagram; and then the Unregistered Users (if any, with a grey user icon).
Mouse-over the names of the editors to see some action - Full Name, Email Address, Timestamp.
However, you can deny access to your project by removing an editor. As the owner of the project, you could simply hit on the close button to remove an editor.
You can Invite Collaborators By Email.
Add multiple collaborators as you start typing in their Email addresses. The new auto-complete feature will prompt you with the right email addresses, you can simply select and click on Add Editors to invite editors.
From the Invite Editors dialog, simply select the users you wish to send a notification email; and include a personal message (only if you think you want to!). The notification email will be sent with a preview image of your diagram. Click Send Invites to confirm.
With the Share with all on the Team option, you can share a project with the entire team. You can simply tick the checkbox to invite all the users on your team, instead of having to punch in each of their Email IDs one after the other. But, if you remove an editor from the editors list, the checkbox will get ticked off automatically (naturally, 'cos the project is no longer shared with everyone on the team).
Creately now identifies its users as Viewers and Editors. While you share a non-editable version of the diagram with Viewers, you can give full permission to make changes on the diagrams to Editors.
You can simply click to Enable View link and share the non-editable version (view only) with everyone on your team. Anyone with the view link can simply click on the link to see the diagram in the Creately Diagram Viewer instead of having to log in to Creately.
You can simply click to Enable Edit Link to give everyone on your team the full permission to make changes on the diagram. You can then copy and share the URLs with everyone on the team. By clicking on the URL, your team members can open up the diagram in the Diagram Viewer Page, and edit from the Creately Editor.
Both these links (View and Edit) can be disabled at anytime by ticking off. When ticked off no one will have access to see/edit the diagrams again. The URLs could also be reset from the "Reset" link, this will change the URLs making the previous URLs invalid.
Comments
Does collaboration happen in realtime?
I'm about to buy your service, but I wanted to know if collaborators and work concurrently on a diagram. For example, if we both have it open in different places and I move an object, is his diagram updated?
It seems not
Worse still, if two people work on the same diagram the last one to save 'wins'. I have asked for claification from support.
Real Time Collaboration
Real Time Collaboration does work on Creately. Two or Twenty users can work on the same diagram at the same time without any fear of losing or over-riding work and everyone will be able to see live updates.
