Diagrams Anywhere is a potent feature of Creately Desktop. You can have all your diagrams sync'ed into both the online and desktop platforms.

Now, all your diagrams automatically sync to the cloud meaning that there's no more painful e-mail attachments or USB drives to waste time worrying about. With Diagrams Anywhere, you can work from where ever you're - both online and offline.

For those of us who travel or live on limited Internet connections, the ability to draw offline is critical.

Having learnt about the identified problem and our competitive space in the Desktop Diagramming market, we thought it would be useful to create a feature that will be a viable solution to a real-life problem, experienced by all diagrammers. So we came up with Diagrams Anywhere, where you can enjoy working on your diagrams wherever you are, with or without Internet.

Does the lack of Internet mean you are wasting precious time with no chance to work on that all important flowchart your Boss requested? With Creately Desktop's Diagrams Anywhere capability, you can start amending that flowchart and continue to work whether you are on land, sea or air without being online dependent. Once you do get connected online, all your diagram updates will automatically sync into your Boss's Creately Online account.

1. When you create a diagram (e.g. a flowchart) on Creately Desktop (while you're also connected to Creately.com), the updates will automatically sync into the Creately online account.

2. You also shared this flowchart with your team which includes a Project Manager, two Developers and a Designer.

3. Your Project Manager then embeds this diagram into a Google site page (or any webpage); while one of the Developers edit the diagram via Creately Desktop.

4. When working as a team on the same diagram in a project, all the changes made by one either using Creately Desktop or creately.com will be reflected immediately in your documentation ensuring that the Creately diagram and the published Google site page (or web page) stay in sync.

5. With Creately's Diagrams Anywhere the whole team can now come together around the right diagram. This saves time as all your changes are automatically sync’ed and updated.

All you have to do is click on the Preferences tab to open the Preferences window; and turn on the 'Diagrams Anywhere' to automatically synchronize your diagrams from your desktop to the web. Collaborators can access and collaborate on all the diagrams via creately.com as you share.

Diagrams Anywhere is active (by default) for users so you can have your diagrams automatically sync'ed into both creately.com and Creately Desktop. These are some of the evident features you'll find on your Document Manager when Diagrams Anywhere is enabled (or not):

1. The status bar will read as 'Online' or 'Offline' depending on whether you have Diagrams Anywhere activated (or not).

2. Having these statuses (online or offline), the Share Project button will be enabled or disabled.

3. The Project synchronization logo will also be enabled or disabled depending on the statuses (online or offline).

4. With the Project synchronization logo being enabled or disabled, all your projects listed out on the left side will have green Project Folder logos or brown Project Folder icons, respectively.

5. The Diagram synchronization logo will also be enabled or disabled depending on whether you have Diagrams Anywhere activated or not.

6. All the synchronizing logos that appear at the bottom right of each diagram will turn green or grey to indicate synchronization or de-synchronization.

If you update a diagram on Creately Desktop, changes will automatically sync to Creately.com servers helping you to collaborate and publish online seamlessly. This applies even when you update a diagram in Creately Online.

Synchronization will work under certain underlying principles -

1. If you've updated a diagram on Creately Desktop, the change will be automatically updated and sync'ed into your Creately Online.

2. If you make the same changes on both Creately Online and Desktop (e.g. - rename a diagram), the latest change will be applied to the other.

3. In specific cases, if you make the same change on both Creately Online and Desktop, it is considered as a conflict and user will be prompted to make the decision.

   

4. If you make different changes on both Creately Online and Desktop, the changes will be merged and updated to both.

Synchronization from Desktop happens in real-time but the synchronisation from Creately Online happens in batches.

If you're working on your Creately Desktop (and connected to Creately.com), updates you make on your Desktop will automatically sync into your Online account each time you make changes (note - you can see all changes except for changes within the diagram).

But, if you're working on Creately Online, updates you make online will only sync into your Creately Desktop through a timely syncing process.

Diagrams Anywhere feature will stop working under these exceptional circumstances -

1. When you're not connected to the internet.

2. When you're unable to connect to Creately.com servers.

3. If your Creately Plan doesn't permit Diagrams Anywhere.

4. If you have disabled Diagrams Anywhere from the preferences window.

5. If you have turned off Project/ Diagram syncing. Remember, this applies to only a specific diagram/project.
